CUTN celebrates national science day

Thiruvarur: The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) marked National Science Day with “SPARGERE-25,” an event organized by the Department of Chemistry on February 25, 2025.
The program, themed “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” underscored the role of young scientists in shaping India's scientific progress.
Prof. M.G. Sethuraman, Senior Professor and Dean, School of Sciences, Gandhigram Rural Institute, inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent for India's leadership in global scientific advancements.
The event was presided over by Prof. S. Nagarajan, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Dean Academics, while Dr. R. Ranjith Kumar, Associate Professor, paid tribute to Sir C.V. Raman's contributions to Indian science. Faculty coordinator Dr. John Prakash played a key role in the event's execution.
SPARGERE-25 featured interactive activities to foster scientific curiosity, including a scavenger hunt, Sci-Canvas, The Atomic Race, Bond Bina Words, Chem-Glimpse, Click Chemistry, Sequence that Matters, and a National Science Day quiz competition. Faculty, staff, and students participated enthusiastically, making the event a resounding success.
The dedication and efforts of students from the 4th Year Integrated MSc, 1st Year MSc, and PGDCLT programs were instrumental in organizing the event.
CUTN's initiative reaffirmed its commitment to promoting scientific inquiry and leadership among youth.
