Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) have partnered to create S.A.M.V.I.D. (Smart Assistant for Museum Visitors and Interactive Displays), an innovative semi-humanoid robot guide for India's first Constitution Museum.

This project celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Constitution's adoption.

The museum, located at JGU's Sonipat campus, will open on November 26, 2024, marking Constitution Day. It will feature advanced AI-driven interactive displays, 3D installations, and comprehensive exhibits, offering an engaging exploration of India's constitutional journey.

The robot, S.A.M.V.I.D., will provide guided tours, share detailed information on exhibits, and present profiles of Constituent Assembly members and their contributions.

Developed by IIT Madras' Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the project combines cutting-edge robotics with cultural heritage. Prof. V. Kamakoti, IITM Director, described S.A.M.V.I.D. as a fusion of technology and history, transforming the museum into an immersive educational experience.

Prof. C. Raj Kumar, JGU Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the museum as a beacon of knowledge, blending tradition and innovation to inspire greater appreciation for India's Constitution.

The museum aims to deepen public understanding of the Constitution through interactive formats, audiovisual content, and artistic representations of the original document.

This collaboration between IIT Madras and JGU marks a pioneering step in integrating technology with education and heritage, ensuring visitors connect with India's foundational legacy in a meaningful, interactive way.
