Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has joined forces with leading industry players to enhance the SWAYAM Plus initiative, a pioneering effort by the Union Ministry of Education.

Through 24 new MoUs across various sectors, SWAYAM Plus expands its offerings of online skilling courses and internships aimed at boosting employability nationwide.

This collaboration brings the total number of industry partners to 36.

Launched earlier this year by Dharmendra Pradhan, Education Minister, Government of India, SWAYAM Plus has already benefitted over 75,000 learners with 165 courses, including those aligned with the National Credit Framework in fields like IT, Healthcare, BFSI, and Indian Knowledge Systems.

The MoUs were recently signed on campus, underscoring a commitment to broadening educational access and preparing learners for the evolving job market.

Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, highlighted the significance of these partnerships, aiming to democratize education access and integrate industry-relevant content into university curricula.

SWAYAM Plus also plans to integrate with the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) for seamless credit transfer, further enhancing learning experiences.
