Chennai: IIT Roorkee concluded a 10-day Teachers' Development Workshop under the iRISE programme, empowering educators in Uttarakhand to become Innovation Champions.

The programme was held from August 21 to August 30, 2024.

This initiative, organized in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttarakhand, and IISER Pune, aimed to equip teachers from classes VI to X with the skills and knowledge needed to drive innovation in their districts.

The workshop focused on key concepts in STEM education, process innovation, and cascade training modules, emphasizing hands-on inquiry and activity-based learning. IIT Roorkee's Continuing Education Centre (CEC), dedicated to advancing knowledge and upskilling professionals, played a pivotal role in the success of the event.

Prof. Naveen Kumar, Dean of Academic Affairs at IIT Roorkee, emphasized the institute's commitment to educational innovation, stating, "This workshop underscores our mission to empower educators and inspire the next generation of innovators."

Prof. Harinath Chakrapani of IISER Pune praised IIT Roorkee's infrastructure and academic environment, calling it instrumental in the workshop's success.

The event saw active participation from distinguished guests and faculty members, marking a significant milestone in IIT Roorkee's ongoing efforts to advance STEM education in the region.

The collaboration with SCERT Uttarakhand and IISER Pune highlights IIT Roorkee's leadership in fostering creativity and problem-solving in schools.
