Lyon, France: The 47th WorldSkills Competition opened on September 10, 2024, with French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurating the event at the LDLC Arena.
Minister Jayant Chaudhary, from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, attended the ceremony to encourage Team India, consisting of 60 competitors participating in 52 skills.

He praised the team's role as change makers and expressed pride in their global representation. The Indian team, led by flagbearer Shreyansh Sharma in Chemical Laboratory Technology, made a memorable entrance during the Parade of Nations.
