New Delhi: The central government is reportedly planning to shift the NEET-UG exams to an online format.
In May last year, controversy erupted following the leak of the NEET-UG exam question paper, raising concerns of irregularities about allocation of grace marks. The issue has subsequently been escalated to the Supreme Court, with the CBI launching an investigation into the NEET-UG exam scandal.
In light of these issues, NEET-PG exam has been postponed, and the NET exam canceled due to similar question paper leaks. Responding to these challenges, the central government has established a committee to overhaul the National Testing Agency (NTA), which administers these exams.
It is understood that the central government is contemplating transitioning NEET-UG exams, traditionally conducted using pen and paper OMR sheets, to an online platform.
After an approval from the National Medical Council, this change could be implemented as early as next year.
