Chennai: Minister Kovi Chezhiyan has urged higher educational institutions to adopt stringent safety measures to prevent incidents like the recent one at Anna University, Chennai.
In a consultative meeting with university registrars, the Minister outlined key recommendations:
Enhanced Surveillance: Educational institutions should install sufficient electric lights and surveillance cameras in all areas, especially at night.
Visitor Monitoring: A register must be maintained to track the entry and exit of all individuals on campus.
Identification Compliance: All students, faculty, and staff should wear ID cards within the campus at all times.
Emergency Awareness: Students must be informed about the police assistance app developed to address emergencies effectively.
Night Patrols: Security personnel should conduct continuous patrolling during nighttime hours.
Student Feedback: Security measures should incorporate suggestions from students, ensuring their concerns are addressed promptly.
Minister Chezhiyan emphasized that these measures aim to create a safer and more secure environment across educational institutions.
