Coimbatore: M. P. Saminathan is the Minister for Information & Publicity emphasized that there are no restrictions on learning or knowing Hindi while asserting the importance of Tamil's recognition.

Speaking at a refresher course for Tamil teacher trainees held at Kumaraguru College, Coimbatore, the minister highlighted efforts to strengthen Tamil education.

The event was jointly organized by Kumaraguru Multi-disciplinary Arts and Science College and Madurai Tamil Sangam.

Tamil Development Department Director Arul welcomed the participants, while Minister Saminathan inaugurated the seminar. Kumaraguru Educational Institutions Chairman Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Vice Chairman Balasubramaniam, and others were present.

Addressing reporters, Minister Saminathan stressed the need to bridge the gap in Tamil usage due to the dominance of foreign languages. He noted that refresher courses for teachers and students are being conducted to promote Tamil. For the first time, the Tamil Nadu Government Recruitment Board has appointed Tamil Literature graduates as Assistant Directors in the Tamil Development Department, with appointment orders to be issued soon.

The minister also called for increased public awareness regarding the use of Tamil on nameplates, stating that discussions with business companies and the Labor Welfare Department are underway to implement this initiative.

Clarifying the government's stance on Hindi, he stated, “There is no obstacle to learning Hindi. Neither the government nor the DMK has interfered in it. However, our focus is on ensuring that Tamil receives its due recognition.”
