Chennai: CAN-STOP (Cancer Support Therapy to Overcome Pain) celebrated Rose Day on September 21, 2024, at the Institute of Child Health Hospital (ICH), Egmore, Chennai.
The event, in partnership with Rotary District 3234, brought joy and encouragement to over 300 cancer patients and their caregivers, offering a message of hope and resilience.
The celebration featured distinguished guests, including actor Mr. Kurinji Nathan, CAN-STOP founder Dr. Vijaya Bharathi Rangarajan, and Dr. Aruna from ICH's Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Department. Rotarians, led by Rtn. J. Sridhar, Former District Governor, showed their support.
The event included a welcome dance and prayer song by cancer-affected children, along with captivating performances by students from Dr. MGR Janaki Women's College. Gifts were distributed to patients, reinforcing the spirit of care and compassion.
Rose Day commemorates Melinda Rose, a young Canadian girl who inspired others during her battle with cancer. The event is a reminder of the strength patients possess, bolstered by the love and support they receive.
CAN-STOP, marking 26 years of service, continues its mission to empower cancer patients through counseling, awareness, and screening programs, particularly for those from underserved communities.
