Chennai: The Rotary Club of Madras T. Nagar proudly inaugurated the Kamala Devi Srisrimal Girl Child Education Project at The Guntur Subbiah Pillai Girl's Higher Secondary School, T. Nagar, Chennai, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to empowering girl children through education.
The project aims to provide essential support to students and staff, ensuring education is accessible to all and fostering independence and self-reliance among girls.
The inauguration event began with a captivating display of Wushu and Silambam by national award winner Ms. Gokulavarshini. The event was graced by Chief Guest, Ann Prabha Srisrimal, First Lady and Businesswoman, and Guest of Honour, Rtn. Narendra Srisrimal, President of Rotary Club of Madras T. Nagar, alongside Mr. Kalyanasundaram, the Headmaster of the school.

The project included the presentation of scholarships to deserving students and salary support to the staff. The total project cost amounted to Rs. 15 lakhs, benefitting 414 students and five teachers.
This generous contribution was made possible by the charitable efforts of Rotary Club of Madras T. Nagar members and the benevolent Chairman of Medisales, Rtn. Narendra Srisrimal.
Past beneficiaries of the project also expressed their gratitude, including one who is now a teacher at the school. She shared her inspiring journey and thanked the Rotary Club for helping her achieve her dreams.

Ms. Esha Srisrimal, granddaughter of Mrs. Kamala Devi Srisrimal, also graced the occasion.

The former Headmistress, Mrs. Rajalakshmi, highlighted the enduring partnership between the school and the Rotary Club of Madras T. Nagar, acknowledging the club's vital role in shaping the future of many students over the years.

The event concluded with the presentation of cheques to students for their outstanding academic performance and to staff for their contributions to the school's success.
The Emcee for the event was Ann Latha Ravi.
