Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Health Department has filed police complaints against 47 doctors who submitted fake embassy certificates to secure postgraduate medical admissions under the NRI quota.

Health Minister Ma. Subramanian announced that the complaints have been lodged with the Commissioner of Police to initiate legal action.

Additionally, eight MBBS aspirants were found to have used fraudulent certificates, leading to police involvement.

The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, discovered the forged documents during certificate verification. While four MBBS aspirants initially received seats, three had their allotments canceled after the certificates were confirmed as fake, with the fourth candidate pursuing legal action.

The Medical Student Admission Board confirmed the fraudulent documents, leading to the annulment of their applications and formal complaints to the police. Investigations are ongoing.
