TNAU observes World Soil Day 2024

Kovai: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Kovai marked World Soil Day 2024 on December 5 with a focus on the theme "Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage."
The Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry (SS&AC), in collaboration with the Coimbatore Chapter of the Indian Society of Soil Science, organized the event.
A rally involving postgraduate and doctoral students was flagged off by TNAU Vice Chancellor Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, who emphasized the importance of healthy soil for sustainable crop production and highlighted TNAU's contributions to soil health through research and outreach.
The 13th Dr. B. Ramamoorthy Memorial Lecture, delivered by Dr. M.V. Sriramachandrasekharan, Former Director of Research at Annamalai University, explored the evolution of agriculture from manual labor to the digital era, featuring technologies like IoT, AI, and robotics.
Over 200 participants, including scientists and students, attended the event, which concluded with prize distributions.
