Chennai: A short-term training program on "Selected Aspects in Steel Design" is being held from February 17 to February 28, 2025, jointly organized by CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) Chennai and the Institute for Steel Development and Growth (INSDAG).

The program aims to equip participants with modern methodologies in steel design, including limit state design, composite construction, and earthquake-resistant design.

The training was inaugurated by Mr. P. K. Mishra, Director General of INSDAG, who highlighted the need for better coverage of steel design in academic curricula and the shortage of specialized faculty in the field.

Dr. N. Anandavalli, Director of CSIR-SERC, emphasized the institute's role in steel structure research and the contributions of both CSIR-SERC and INSDAG to advancing steel design in India. The program provides an opportunity for students and professionals to gain insights from industry experts, scientists, and academicians.

Dr. Anandavalli encouraged active participation to maximize the learning experience.
