All arrangements are being made to hold the entrance test on June 7 in different States simultaneously for admission of students,  Dean of JIPMER, Dr K S Reddy said.

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has  alloted 100 seats for the first year MBBS. The entrance test is being held to select 82 students as the remaining 18 seats will be filled through nomination by the Central government.

JIPMER became an autonomous institution through an Act of Parliament in July 2008, though it was under the direct control of Directorate General of Health Sciences New Delhi till then.

The test will be held simultaneously in Puducherry, New Delhi, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

The institution has set apart 26 seats (out of the total of 100 seats in the MBBS course) for students belonging to the Union Territory of Puducherry, of which 17 are for the open general (unreserved) category, five for Other Backward classes and four for Scheduled caste students who should all be
natives of Puducherry.
