Chennai: The Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CSMCARI) has launched a six-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for Ayush doctors, scientists, and teachers on “Scientific Advancements in Ayush Research and Drug Standardization.”

The programme, which commenced on Monday, will conclude on August 23.

The CME aims to enhance knowledge and skills in Ayurveda by integrating traditional practices with modern scientific approaches. It features expert-led sessions on research methodologies, innovative techniques, and quality assurance in drug development. Participants are engaging in interactive workshops, hands-on training, and discussions to strengthen clinical practice and research capabilities.

Dr. Ashok B.K, Senior Manager, Ayush Scientific Affairs, Himalaya Wellness Company, Bengaluru, inaugurated the programme as Chief Guest. Delivering the keynote address on “Necessity of Evidence-Based Research in Developing Globally Compliant Ayush Products,” he highlighted the importance of scientific validation in Ayurveda for international acceptance.

In her welcome address, Dr. S. Chitra, Assistant Director In-charge, CSMCARI, outlined ongoing research activities and urged participants to explore the institute's laboratory facilities. Dr. Soumya M.C, Research Officer (Ayurveda), delivered a lecture on “Ayurvedic Medicine in the Modern Era: A Focus on Quality Assurance.”
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. G. Kusuma, who expressed gratitude to participants and experts, noting that the insights gained would significantly benefit the field.
CSMCARI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting excellence in Ayurveda education and research and announced plans for similar training programmes in the future.
