Chennai: The number of MBBS seats under the All India Quota (AIQ) in Tamil Nadu has been increased by 138, ahead of the ongoing counseling process.

Admissions for MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses are based on the NEET entrance examination. Counseling for AIQ seats is conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), while the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Medical Education handles state quota counseling.

Two rounds of state quota counseling have already been completed. The third round for vacant seats began today and will continue until the 9th, followed by a period from the 11th to 14th for students to select their preferred colleges. The final allotment is scheduled to be published on the 16th.

Meanwhile, the third round of AIQ counseling for selecting colleges was completed yesterday. The recent increase of 138 AIQ seats is expected to lead to an extension of the deadline for students to finalize their college choices.
