Aligarh: A teachers' body of the Aligarh Muslim University has appealed to the Centre to direct the varsity authorities to immediately start the process of holding selection committees for various appointments in the institution.

The AMU Teachers' Association passed a resolution in its general body meet  criticising the 'unusual delay' in filling up the posts lying vacant for the past two years.

'If the university fails to respond to our demand then we will have to resort to other means of fulfilling them,' Jamshed Siddiqui, Secretary of the Teachers Association, said.

A delegation of the teachers would also visit New Delhi to press their demand, he added.
