Aligarh: A .R. Rahman, the music maestro, who won two Oscars - one for best original score and another for best original song with lyricist Gulzar for 'Slumdog Millionaire' at the 81st annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles will be conferred an honorary doctorate by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) at its convocation to be held on June 7 at its campus.

Besides Rahman, former Sahitya Academy President Gopi Chand Narang will also be conferred honorary doctorate by the varsity at the convocation.

Governor of West Bengal Gopalkrishna Gandhi has consented to be the chief guest at the annual convocation.
