Sambalpur (Odisha): The body of a final-year BTech student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, was found under a bridge here on Tuesday under mysterious circumstances, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Anjaneya Dash, a mechanical engineering student from Jajpur district residing at the university's Pulastya hostel. Dash's body, which bore multiple injuries, was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, where he was declared dead on arrival.

While the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, the body has been sent for post-mortem. Dash's family has alleged that he was murdered.

Burla police have registered a case and launched an investigation, examining all possibilities, including accident and foul play. Inspector S K Baliarsingh said preliminary findings suggest an accidental death, and the final cause will be confirmed after the post-mortem report.
