Coimbatore: Bharathiar University has introduced a new undergraduate programme, B.Sc Blended Biosciences, from the current academic year in collaboration with the University of Melbourne.

The programme, which was earlier offered only in central universities and higher research institutions, has been introduced for the first time by a state university in Tamil Nadu, university sources said.

During the first two years, students will study an integrated curriculum covering mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.

In the third year, students can choose physics, chemistry or biological sciences as their major specialisation.

Admissions will be based on Class 12 marks. Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50 per cent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the higher secondary examination to be eligible for admission.
