Gandhinagar: A CEO Roundtable held on 17 September at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar focused on climate finance opportunities for Gujarat's renewable energy expansion.

Part of the RE-INVEST 2024 Expo, the event brought together senior government officials, industry experts, and financial institutions to discuss strategies for funding Gujarat's ambitious renewable energy targets.

The session, chaired by Kanubhai Desai, Gujarat's Minister of Finance, Energy, and Petrochemicals, featured addresses from key officials, including Rajeev Topno, IAS, and Dr. T. Natrajan, IAS, highlighting Gujarat's goal of achieving 100 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

With financial needs projected at Rs. 2.4 trillion ($30.6 billion) for renewable projects, the roundtable focused on instruments like green bonds and carbon credits to secure funding.

The discussion also explored green hydrogen, energy storage solutions, and offshore wind projects, positioning Gujarat as a leader in climate finance.

Major financial institutions, including REC and IFC, expressed interest in supporting the state's decarbonization efforts, with GIFT City playing a key role in future developments.

The roundtable emphasized the importance of financial collaboration to achieve Gujarat's renewable energy goals.
