Chennai: The Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CSMCARI) concluded a six-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for Ayush doctors, scientists, and teachers on “Scientific Advancements in Ayush Research and Drug Standardization” on Saturday.

The training, conducted under the Ayurgyan Scheme sponsored by the Ministry of Ayush and coordinated by Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills in modern Ayurveda research and drug standardization.

Inaugurated on August 18, the programme brought together medical professionals, researchers, and students from across India. Dr. Ashok B.K., Senior Manager, Ayush Scientific Affairs, Himalaya Wellness Company, Bengaluru, served as Chief Guest during the inaugural session, highlighting the importance of evidence-based research for developing globally compliant Ayush products.

The CME featured lectures and workshops delivered by eminent experts including Dr. Nikhil Mukund Jirankalgikar (PCIM&H, Ghaziabad), Dr. Suvro Chatterjee (University of Burdwan), Dr. K.N. Sunil Kumar (CSMCARI), and other resource persons covering pharmacology, biotechnology, pharmacognosy, and microbiology. Institute officials including Dr. S. Chitra, Assistant Director (in-charge), Dr. M.C. Soumya, and Mr. Vishnu Walsan K also addressed the participants.

The valedictory session was held on Saturday, with Dr. Nariya Mukeshkumar B, Head of Pharmacology Laboratory, ITRA, Jamnagar, as Chief Guest, congratulating participants on their active engagement. Certificates were distributed, and the programme concluded with the national anthem.

The CME is expected to strengthen research capabilities among Ayush professionals, fostering integration of traditional practices with contemporary scientific methodologies, and promoting evidence-based development of Ayurvedic drugs.
