Chennai: With the rapid growth of internet usage and digital services, the number of cyberattacks has also increased significantly, leading to a sharp rise in demand for cyber security analysts in India, experts said.
Cyber security analysts are responsible for protecting an organisation's computer systems and networks from hackers and unauthorised access. With increasing mobile usage and digitalisation across sectors, the field is expected to witness around 20 per cent growth between 2025 and 2030.
Experts noted that aspiring candidates must possess a combination of technical and soft skills. Knowledge of network security, firewall configuration, intrusion detection, and programming languages such as Python is considered essential.
In addition, strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to remain calm under pressure are crucial traits for professionals in this domain.
A bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or information technology can improve job prospects. However, candidates can also enter the field through recognised certification programmes such as the Google Cybersecurity Certificate.
Entry-level professionals typically begin as junior analysts and can progress to roles such as security engineer and security architect with experience.
Given the growing importance of data protection, cyber security is emerging as a promising and rewarding career option for young professionals interested in the IT sector, experts added.
