Kolkata: Uncertainty over the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) schedule has raised concerns among students and colleges, especially with Assembly elections likely in April-May.

The engineering entrance exam is usually conducted in April or May after Class 12 board examinations, but this year, neither the exam date nor the application process has been announced.

WBJEE Board Chairperson Gautam Pal said conducting the exam on time remains a major challenge but expressed hope that it would be held and results published within a proper timeframe.

College authorities fear further delays may affect admissions, as students could opt for institutions outside the state based on national-level entrance exam results.

Last year, delayed WBJEE results caused anxiety among candidates and impacted enrolment in engineering colleges, with institutions reporting fewer high-ranking students taking admission.
