Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is set to enhance the employability of engineering and diploma students through targeted skill development programs.
According to an official press release, IIT Madras will collaborate with the National Level Internal Training, Employment Training and Assessment Institute to offer training aimed at strengthening key employability skills.
The initiative focuses on third- and final-year engineering students, recent graduates, and final-year diploma students across the country.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing the partnership was signed recently in the presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The program spans 10 to 12 weeks and covers a range of essential skills, including mathematical proficiency, communication abilities, and department-specific technical knowledge. Upon completion, students will undergo an assessment test, and those who successfully meet the criteria will be awarded certificates by IIT Madras.
The initiative is part of IIT Madras' broader effort to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, ensuring that students are better equipped to meet professional challenges and secure employment.
By combining structured training with formal assessment, the program not only enhances students' skill sets but also provides recruiters with a benchmark for identifying talent.
