Chennai: The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, has announced the schedule and registration details for the Eighth Standard Public Examination (ESLC) for private candidates, scheduled to be held in August 2025.

According to an official release from the DGE, private candidates who have completed 12 years of age as on August 1, 2025, can apply for the examination by visiting designated service centres listed on the official website www.dge.tn.gov.in.

The online registration window will be open from the afternoon of July 10 to July 17, 2025, excluding Sunday.

The application process involves a payment of ₹125 as examination fee and ₹70 as online registration fee, totaling ₹195.

Candidates failing to apply within the stipulated dates will be allowed to register under the Tatkal scheme on July 18 and 19 by paying an additional fee of ₹500.

First-time applicants are required to furnish a copy of their birth certificate, transfer certificate, or school registration form. Candidates who have failed the exam previously must attach copies of their previous mark sheets.

All candidates must also include a self-addressed envelope with ₹42 postage affixed.

The Directorate has clarified that only online applications submitted through service centres will be accepted. Applications sent by post will be summarily rejected.

The examination will be held over five days from August 18 to 22, 2025, with the timetable as follows:
Aug 18 (Mon): Tamil
Aug 19 (Tue): English
Aug 20 (Wed): Mathematics
Aug 21 (Thu): Science
Aug 22 (Fri): Social Science

All exams will be conducted between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.
