Madurai: A new initiative offering foreign education through computer-based learning will soon be launched at the Kalaignar Centenary Library, Madurai.
Dinesh Kumar, Chief Librarian welcomed the gathering for the library's summer celebration for children. The Director, of the Public Library, Illumbhagwat awarded certificates to participants of various competitions and activities.
In his address, Illumbhagwat emphasized the role of parents in encouraging their children to visit the library. He highlighted that the library is not merely a repository of books but also a social hub where children can interact and learn social norms.
He announced that various initiatives are being developed to cater to the needs of children, adults, youth, and students preparing for competitive exams. Among these is a forthcoming program offering computer-based education in collaboration with foreign universities, which will soon be operational.
Illumbhagwat urged young people to take advantage of this opportunity, noting that libraries are evolving into centers for skill development as well as reading.
Among other who participated in the programme were American College Tamil Professor Prabhakaran, along with teachers Siva and Saravanan.
Santhana Krishnan, Librarian delivered the vote of thanks.
