Coonoor: A free training centre offering skill development in the digital technology sector was inaugurated at Providence College in Coonoor under a Rs 60 lakh project supported by the Micro Land Foundation.
The initiative aims to strengthen data science facilities and improve employability among graduates in the Nilgiris district. The centre includes a video conferencing hall, 70 computers and modern infrastructure.
District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya, who inaugurated the facility, said digital learning would transform students' approach to education by combining theory with practical exposure and real-time experience. She said the initiative would boost self-confidence and prepare students for employment and higher studies.
Managing Trustee Kalpana Khar said the project seeks to promote digital transformation and ensure that geographical barriers do not hinder access to quality education. The centre will enable students to interact with experts and faculty members online.
College Principal Dr Sheela welcomed the gathering, while Trust Officer Alok proposed a vote of thanks.
