Coimbatore: The Sports Development Authority Tamil Nadu (SDAT) will conduct a free non-residential summer training camp for students below 18 years of age in Coimbatore district from April 25 to May 15.

The annual initiative aims to promote sports among school students during the summer break. This year's camp will offer training in seven disciplines — athletics, basketball, football, volleyball, gymnastics, boxing, and kabaddi.

The training sessions will be held at Nehru Stadium and the adjacent Corporation Ground from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and again from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM daily.

Interested students can register for the camp by presenting their Aadhaar card. A certificate of participation will be issued to all attendees, District Sports Officer Bhuvaneswari said.

She also urged Physical Education Inspectors to coordinate with schools to encourage greater student participation. Coaches from SDAT, along with Physical Education Directors and teachers, will conduct the sessions.

The authority has directed officials to ensure necessary amenities, including drinking water, are made available at the training venues.
