Growing Concern: Children Avoiding Conversations with Parents

In today's environment, there is a noticeable increase in children avoiding open conversations with their parents. One of the major reasons behind this shift is the growing influence of the digital world.
Impact of the Online World
Online education has become widespread, and mobile phone usage among children has increased significantly. While using mobile devices, children are often exposed to unavoidable and inappropriate images or content that may not be suitable for their age. Such exposure can influence their mental well-being and behaviour.
Many parents say, “We do everything our children ask for.” However, fulfilling every demand without setting proper boundaries and guidance does not support healthy development.
The Need for Strong Foundations
Children should be taught from an early age what is right and what is wrong. Without instilling basic values, discipline and a sense of responsibility, allowing them to make independent decisions too early can lead to problems.
Encouraging independence is important, but only after laying a strong moral and emotional foundation. Once children understand core values and life skills, they can be safely guided toward making their own decisions.
The Importance of Communication
Parents must consistently engage in meaningful conversations with their children. Instead of focusing solely on control, approaching them with understanding and empathy encourages children to share their doubts, concerns and experiences openly.
Ultimately, even as technology advances, the strength of family relationships should not weaken. Children raised with guidance, structure and affection are more likely to grow into confident and responsible individuals.
