Chennai: Hindu Makkal Katchi leader Arjun Sampath on Thursday alleged that religious discrimination was being shown in the distribution of educational scholarships in Tamil Nadu.

He claimed that the state government was preventing the benefits of GST tax cuts from reaching people by using revenue officials, and urged the Centre to closely monitor the issue.

Accusing the ruling DMK of creating a “manufactured image” through actor Vijay to counter the AIADMK-BJP alliance, Sampath said people should not be misled as they were earlier by actor Kamal Haasan.

“All the DMK alliance parties have become extensions of the DMK. They claim that the AIADMK will be swallowed up by the BJP, but in reality, it is the DMK which has swallowed its allies,” Sampath alleged.
