New Delhi: The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and German-British publisher Springer Nature on Monday launched the third edition of the 'India Research Tour', which will cover educational institutions across the country to offer workshops, training sessions, and access to the latest research tools and insights.

Officials said this year's tour will focus on advancing open access and open science, strengthening research integrity, promoting e-book adoption, supporting editorial board recruitment, and encouraging diversity and inclusion in research.

Over the past two years, the initiative has reached thousands of researchers and academicians across 36 institutions in 25 cities and 15 states, recognising over 200 women researchers for their contributions to multidisciplinary research.

Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur said the India Research Tour is a key platform to support women in research and strengthen ethical scholarship.
“By focusing on democratising access to knowledge and empowering the next generation of scholars, this initiative contributes directly to the vision of Viksit Bharat,” she said.

Frank Vrancken Peeters, CEO of Springer Nature, said the 2025 edition reflects the publisher's long-term commitment to strengthening India's research ecosystem through collaboration with the Ministry of Education and ICSSR.

Dhananjay Singh, Member Secretary of ICSSR, noted that the initiative will particularly engage institutions in the eastern and north-eastern regions to strengthen research capacity and promote evidence-based policymaking.

This year's tour will include visits to IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, Maulana Azad Medical College (New Delhi), IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Bodh Gaya.
