Mumbai: IIT Bombay Educational Outreach has launched an e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CS & AI) for learners who want to build their knowledge of computer science and artificial intelligence.

The programme has been designed and will be taught by IIT Bombay faculty, with Great Learning as the EdTech partner. It combines online classes with an in-person campus immersion at IIT Bombay.

The course covers two main areas — Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.

Students can learn about new AI technologies such as Generative AI, Large Language Models, AI Agents, Reinforcement Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning. They will also study computer science subjects such as Algorithms, Blockchain, Web and Software Security, Cryptography, Network Security and Big Data Systems.

Students have to complete six courses, with at least two courses from each of the two areas. The programme can be completed in one year, but students can take up to three years to finish it.

“The programme will equip learners not just to use AI tools, but to understand Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at a foundational level,” said Prof. Vinay J. Ribeiro, Faculty Coordinator of the ePGD (CS & AI) programme at IIT Bombay.

Mohan Lakhamraju, Founder and CEO of Great Learning, said that professionals need more than just knowledge of AI tools. They also need a strong understanding of computer science to build reliable AI systems.

The programme is aimed at software developers, engineers, IT professionals, data scientists and fresh graduates who have basic knowledge of computer science.

Students who successfully complete the programme will receive IIT Bombay e-alumni status.
