Gandhinagar: Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar is strengthening its focus on experiential learning, interdisciplinary education and early research exposure to prepare students for real-world challenges and emerging technologies.

The institute said its academic model combines core engineering foundations with flexibility to explore fields such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, data science and advanced manufacturing.

IITGN Director Prof Rajat Moona said the institute aims to create an academic environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking and innovation.

"At IIT Gandhinagar, we aim to create an academic environment that encourages curiosity, flexibility and early engagement with practical challenges," he said.

The institute offers a foundation programme for first-year students to support their transition into college life and develop skills such as teamwork, communication and creativity.

Initiatives such as "World of Engineering" and Invent@IITGN encourage students to work on real-world problems, prototype solutions and understand entrepreneurship from the early stages of their academic journey.

The institute also highlighted facilities such as Tinkerers' Lab and Maker Bhavan, which provide hands-on learning opportunities across multiple domains. Through Project SAMARTH, IITGN is also contributing to workforce development in the semiconductor sector.

Apart from admissions through JEE Advanced, the institute accepts students from national Olympiad training camps and offers financial aid to support students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

IITGN said its graduates have secured placements in technology firms, engineering companies, startups and research organisations, reflecting the impact of its experiential learning model.
