Chennai: Learning becomes most effective and enjoyable when it is immersive. The Department of Management Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has introduced an 'International Immersion Learning' component to its Executive MBA Program designed for working professionals.The core focus of this program is on developing Global Leadership and Cultural Intelligence among participants. As part of this initiative, students from the 2023 and 2024 batches of the Executive MBA Program had the opportunity to attend a 9-day immersion program at IÉSEG School of Management, spanning two countries and three locations, including Brussels and Paris in Belgium, as well as Lille in France.The program included classroom sessions aimed at providing a comprehensive understanding of global cultures and business practices within Europe's complex socio-cultural landscape. Students had unique experiences, such as exploring Decathlon's innovation and research center, gaining insights into renowned startup incubators, visiting France's largest Inland River Port, and interacting with members of the European Parliament and European Commission representatives to understand European governance dynamics. The program concluded with a cultural experience in a typical French household.DoMS is currently inviting applications for the next batch, with the application deadline set for October 19, 2023. In-person classes, held every alternate weekend, are scheduled to commence in January 2024.Admission requirements include a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 60% marks, a minimum of three years of work experience, and selection through an Entrance Examination and Virtual Personal Interview conducted by DoMS.The EMBA program's structure includes functional foundational courses, an integrated perspective on cross-functional challenges, exploration of global leadership avenues, and three capstone projects to apply advanced management concepts. Additionally, an optional International Immersion Learning Program broadens participants' knowledge and perspectives through exposure to global cultures.
