Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has significantly expanded its flagship 'School Connect' initiative, offering 10 online certificate courses to Class X, XI and XII students across India.

This move builds on the success of its earlier courses on Data Science & Artificial Intelligence and Electronic Systems.

The program, spearheaded by the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), now includes diverse subjects such as Architecture & Design, Ecology, Engineering Biological Systems, Law, Aerospace, and Humanities. It aims to provide early exposure to emerging disciplines, enabling school students to make informed academic and career decisions.

Registrations for the August 2025 batch are underway, with the deadline set for July 25. Schools can partner with IIT Madras and enroll their students via code.iitm.ac.in/schoolconnect. Each course runs for eight weeks and includes assignments and an optional project component.

“This initiative reflects our belief in sparking curiosity and innovation at a formative age,” said Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras. Prof. Andrew Thangaraj, Chair of CODE, added, “We see this as our social responsibility to help young minds discover their potential through academic exposure.”

Courses will be offered in three cycles annually—August, October, and January—allowing students to experience up to three courses per year. With over 2,300 schools already on board and 50,000 students reached, IIT Madras continues to set benchmarks in school-level outreach and digital education.
