Tokyo: India has made significant progress in global innovation rankings, rising to 38th place in the 2025 Global Innovation Index (GII), up from 48th in 2020 and 91st in 2014.
Japanese scientists have lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for Indo-Japanese cooperation in science and technology. In a resolution statement, Nobel laureate Takai Kajita and 20 other eminent Japanese scientists expressed support for Modi's initiatives in research and innovation.
Speaking at an international conference at the University of Tokyo, Kajita said, “To make rapid progress in research and innovation, Japan should learn from India. Modi's visionary plan should be strengthened.”
About Takai Kajita: Kajita, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2015 for his discovery of neutrino oscillations, is the director of the Cosmic Ray Research Institute at the University of Tokyo.
