Jaipur: The Indian Debating League (IDL) concluded the Harvard College Debating Union—Indian Team Qualifiers 2025 at Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur, marking one of India's largest school debating events with over 80 teams, 700 participants, and 200 debates across three days.

The championship witnessed inspiring sessions by Shark Tank India entrepreneurs Amit Jain (CarDekho) and Aman Gupta (boAt), who shared lessons on communication and resilience. Jain called debating a vital entrepreneurial skill, while Gupta stressed that “debating is not just about winning; it's about clarity of thought.”

Zaara Chinoy, Adyant Gupta, Arnav Singh, and Aashi Bubna from The Cathedral and John Connon School emerged Open Category Champions, securing a spot at the Harvard World Schools Debating Championship 2026 in Massachusetts. The runner-up team — comprising students from Invictus International School, Step by Step School (Noida), and Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School (Adyar) — also qualified for Harvard.

Novice Category winners from Gyanshree School will represent India at Harvard, while several quarter-finalists earned berths for the Shanghai WSDC Open 2025. Outstanding speakers included Adyant Gupta, Siddhartha Manaktala, Ishaan Bajaj, Shree Radha Sanjay, and Anaaya Kanchan, among others.

IDL founder Anjali Tiwary said the competition was about “resilience and turning setbacks into opportunities.” The event also announced IDL 5.0 and upcoming Asia's largest debating tournament in 2026, reinforcing India's growing global debating footprint.
