Chennai: The Indian Maritime University (IMU) will host its 9th Convocation on 7th October 2024 at its Semmencherry campus.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Former Foreign Secretary of India and Ambassador to the USA, will be the Chief Guest.

A total of 1,974 students from IMU's four Schools across six campuses, as well as affiliated institutes, will receive degrees, including four Ph.D. scholars and one MS (by Research) scholar.

IMU, established in 2008 as a Central University in Chennai, integrates seven maritime legacy institutions and offers comprehensive maritime education and research.

The university provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs through its campuses in Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Visakhapatnam, along with 17 affiliated Maritime Training Institutes.
