Tiruvarur: Central University Tamil Nadu (CUTN), Neelakudi, marked International Yoga Day 2025 with a grand celebration, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 200 students, professors, and staff members.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Krishnan, Registrar I. Thirumurugan, Controller of Examinations Prof. Sulochana Sekar, and Librarian Prof. Parameswaran presided over the event organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports.

Alongside university students, children from CUTN, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Oxford School joined the mass yoga session, showcasing unity in promoting holistic wellness.

Participants performed various yoga postures under the supervision of physical education faculty.

Sharing his excitement, a Kendriya Vidyalaya student, Rakesh, expressed his joy at participating in the Prime Minister's national Yoga Day event through the university.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Krishnan highlighted that Yoga Day has become a global movement, spreading India's ancient art of well-being worldwide. Stressing the theme “One Earth, One Health Yoga,” he urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine to build a healthy body, a focused mind, and a positive outlook.

Marking a significant step, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the university has launched a two-year M.Sc. Yoga programme from this academic year, commemorating a decade of International Yoga Day observance and opening new academic avenues for students interested in the discipline.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to practice yoga regularly and promote its benefits among the community.
