Puducherry: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry — an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare — will hold its 14th Convocation on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 10 am at the Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Auditorium on its campus.

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers Anupriya Patel will be the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.

The ceremony will be attended by Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N Rangasamy and other dignitaries, an official release said.

As many as 941 students will be awarded degrees at the convocation, including 39 PhD, 49 DM, 26 MCh, 11 PDCC, nine PDF, 269 MD, 129 MS, one MDS and 408 MBBS graduates, marking a significant academic milestone for the institution.

In recognition of academic excellence, 180 students will receive medals and endowment prizes. These include 83 undergraduate, 90 postgraduate and seven super-specialty students who secured top ranks in their respective disciplines.

JIPMER Director Dr Vir Singh Negi will present the institute report, highlighting the institution's achievements in medical education, patient care and research, the release added.
