Chennai: The Madras High Court has directed the production of CCTV footage from NEET examination centres following an appeal by students seeking a re-examination due to alleged disruptions during the test.

Sixteen students who appeared for the NEET UG 2025 exam at centres in Avadi and Meenambakkam claimed that a power outage caused by heavy rains and strong winds on the day of the exam — May 4 — prevented them from completing the test. The petitioners approached the High Court seeking a re-examination.

Earlier, a single judge bench had ruled that the National Testing Agency's (NTA) inquiry into the matter was fair and found no grounds to intervene. The bench also observed that any direction to reconduct the exam would have wide implications as over 22 lakh students had taken NEET nationwide.

Challenging the verdict, the students filed an appeal. Hearing the matter, a division bench comprising Justices J. Nisha Banu and M. Jyothiraman directed the concerned authorities to submit the CCTV footage from the examination centres in question.

The bench has adjourned further hearing to June 16.
