Chennai: The Madras Sanskrit College (MSC) today unveiled its ambitious Bharatiya Center for Excellence (Bharatiya Gnana Kendra), laying the foundation for a series of institutions aimed at promoting holistic wellness, traditional knowledge, and values-based leadership.

At an inauguration ceremony held on campus, the 70th Peethadhipathi, Jagadguru Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Sankaracharya Swamigal of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham blessed the initiative with his presence.

As part of this centre, four new institutions were formally opened: the Ramaratnam Bharatiya Vidyalaya, a primary school rooted in Indian values; the Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Veda Pathshala, honouring Mahaperiyava; the Krishnaswamy Iyer Sastra Varidhi to nurture promising young scholars; and a new Saiva Agama Department to preserve Saiva traditions.

For over a century, MSC and its sister body, the Kuppuswami Sastri Research Institute (KSRI), have championed Sanskrit studies and Bharatiya Knowledge Systems (BKS), covering disciplines from Vedanta and Nyaya to Ayurveda and Jyotisha.

The newly launched Centre for Excellence seeks to bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary needs through education, research, and innovative outreach. Future plans include advanced research in Ayurveda, Dharmasastra, Ganitam, and Itihasa, alongside projects like the True Itihasa Project to authentically rewrite India's historical narrative.

Visitors wishing to attend functions in the presence of the Acharya must obtain security passes from the college.

About MSC: Established over 100 years ago, MSC and KSRI remain pivotal in preserving and propagating India's rich Sanskrit and knowledge heritage.
