Chennai: The 17th nationwide employment fair aimed at promoting youth participation in nation-building was held on Thursday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributing appointment orders to 51,000 youth across the country through video conferencing.

As part of the initiative, job fairs were organised in Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai and Coimbatore. Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary participated in the Trichy event and distributed job orders to 112 youth. Lok Sabha MP Durai Vaiko and Dr. G. Akila, Director of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, also attended.

Union Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Sripad Yesso Naik presided over the Coimbatore event, handing job orders to 51 youth. He urged recruits to work with honesty and dedication, and to utilise the Karmayogi Prarambh platform, which offers over 3,000 self-learning modules. A tree-planting drive was also held, with Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan in attendance.

In Chennai, Zonal Postmaster General G. Natarajan distributed appointment orders to 116 youth, while in Madurai, Tamil Nadu Circle Principal Postmaster General Mariamma Thomas handed over job letters to 60 candidates.

The appointments were made in departments including Posts, Financial Services, Railways, and Petroleum and Natural Gas
