New Delhi: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released three significant publications on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to mark the 19th Statistics Day on June 29, 2025.

The releases include the SDG-National Indicator Framework (NIF) Progress Report 2025, a Data Snapshot on SDGs, and the updated SDG-NIF 2025. These documents assess India's progress on the 17 SDGs using national-level indicators and time-series data from relevant Ministries and agencies.

Key highlights from the report reveal notable improvements: social protection coverage rose from 22% in 2016 to 64.3% in 2025; rural access to improved drinking water reached 99.62%; and agricultural productivity per worker increased to ₹94,110. Renewable energy's share in electricity generation rose to 22.13%, with installed per capita capacity reaching 156.31 watts.

India also saw a jump in recognised start-ups—from 453 in 2016 to over 34,000 in 2024—and a reduction in income inequality as reflected by falling Gini coefficients. Forest cover slightly increased, and waste processing efficiency improved to over 80%.

The reports are publicly accessible via the MoSPI website and serve as crucial tools for policymakers, planners, and stakeholders in tracking India's SDG commitments.
