Wayanad (Kerala): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday alleged that the National Education Policy (NEP) and the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme were designed to “brainwash” children by promoting only one ideology.

Addressing reporters here, the Wayanad MP said both the NEP 2022 and the PM SHRI initiative were structured in a way that presented only a single ideological viewpoint.

“Besides that, a lot of factual inaccuracies have been inserted, historical data have been changed, and ideologically it is all leaning one way,” she said.

“I don't think that's healthy for education or for children. They should have a broader perspective. If there are different ideologies, those should all be discussed. Children should be educated and made aware, but not in just one direction. That is why we oppose it,” Priyanka added.

She also expressed surprise that the Kerala government had not opposed the PM SHRI scheme.
“I thought the government in Kerala would have opposed it. I am surprised that it has not done so,” she remarked.
