Bangalore: The state government is considering to introduce a common admission process for kindergarten, after the introduction of CET for degree courses.

Primary and secondary education minister Visveshwara Hegde Kageri told that with a common admission process various school admission issues, including the donation menace and exorbitant fees that school managements impose on parents will come to halt.

The Govt was progressively working on a comprehensive admission policy which will also look at having common admissions. In the past, the state had received several complaints from parents on the exorbitant fee and problems faced during admission, he told.

However, once the Right to Education bill is cleared at the center, the state government can take appropriate action.

The department is also working on introducing a zonal system or the neighbourhood schooling, which is popular in the West. 'It may not be distributed geographically, but we are working out the modalities and will weigh the pros and cons. In a zonal system, quality is important,' he said.
