Chennai: Newly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Sub-Inspectors (SIs) in Tamil Nadu will undergo an updated training programme designed with the participation of officials from the Police Research and Training Secretariat.

The new modules have been framed in collaboration with the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) under the Union Home Ministry. DSPs are selected through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, while SIs are recruited via the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board.

According to police officials, the revamped curriculum introduces courses on cybercrime investigation and practical examinations to enhance digital forensics capabilities. “Training has also been added on expediting the disposal of complex petitions and improving investigative efficiency,” officials said.

The programme includes sessions on leadership assessment, handling social media communication, coastal and border security, cryptocurrency and dark web frauds, digital document security, and women's safety. Special modules have also been designed to sensitise officers on interacting with transgender individuals and vulnerable groups.

Officials added that the revised syllabus aims to build technologically skilled and socially aware officers equipped to handle emerging law enforcement challenges.
