New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced re-examinations for three subjects — English, Commerce and Sociology — following complaints and discrepancies reported in the UGC-NET examination conducted in June.
According to a statement issued by the NTA, the UGC-NET examination for eligibility for appointment as assistant professors and award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) was conducted from June 22 to 30 for 87 subjects.
During the examination, discrepancies were detected in the question papers for English, Commerce and Sociology, including incorrect translations, typographical errors and repetition of questions, the agency said.
As a result, re-examinations will be conducted only for the three affected subjects.
The English paper will be held on September 9 from 9 am to noon, followed by the Commerce paper from 3 pm to 6 pm on the same day. The Sociology examination will be conducted on September 10.
Details regarding examination centres and admit cards will be announced shortly on the official NTA website, the agency said.
No additional examination fee will be charged for the re-test in the three subjects.
The results for the remaining 84 subjects will be declared as scheduled. The NTA also said the re-examination would not delay the allocation of JRF slots or the issuance of certificates for candidates.
