Puducherry: Pondicherry University (PU) on Wednesday organised a human chain as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative of the Centre to promote patriotism among citizens ahead of Independence Day.

Students, faculty members and staff joined hands on the university campus holding the national flag to symbolise unity and national pride, a release said.

Vice-Chancellor Prakash Babu, addressing the gathering, highlighted the importance of national symbols and said educational institutions play a crucial role in fostering civic responsibility.

He lauded the enthusiastic participation of students and urged the youth to uphold the ideals of freedom, democracy and national integration.

The event concluded with a pledge by participants to adhere to constitutional values and contribute to the nation's progress, the release added.
